▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
By the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 who will be in Paradise 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allah with a writing that Islam is the right religion, and Muhammad SAW has come with the truth from Allah the Lord of the heavens and earth, etc.). 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
