The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
