When your Lord called out to Moses, saying, "Go to the wrongdoing people, 10 the nation of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Me' 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 and my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be loosed; so send to Aaron. 13 They hold a sin against me, and I fear that they will kill me' 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Replied [Moses]: "I committed it while I was still going astray; 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 And [as for] that favour of which thou so tauntingly remindest me - [was it not] due to thy having enslaved the children of Israel?" 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, if you can believe." 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 (Moses continued): "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers before you." 26 The Pharaoh said, "The Messenger who has been sent to you is certainly insane". 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 Said he: If you will take a god besides me, I will most certainly make you one of the imprisoned. 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 Pharaoh said: "Then bring it if you are truthful at all." 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
