The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
