The people of Lot rejected the Messengers. 160 When their brother Lot said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 161 I am for you an honest Messenger. 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 instead of your wives, whom your Lord has created specially for you? You are a transgressing people." 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 So We saved him and his whole family 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 then We destroyed the others. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
