And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 Stamp the ground with thy foot, yonder is water to wash in, cool, and water to drink. 42 And We gave him his family and the like of them with them, as a mercy from Us, and as a reminder to those possessed of understanding. 43 We told him, "Take a handful of straw. Strike your wife with it to fulfill your oath." We found him to be patient. What an excellent servant he was. He was certainly most repenting. 44 Remember Our votaries Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of power and insight. 45 Assuredly We purified them with a quality most pure, the remembrance of the Abode, 46 And in Our sight, they are indeed the chosen ones, the beloved. 47 Remember also Our servants Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhul Kifl; each is among the excellent. 48 This is a reminder. And indeed, for the righteous is a good place of return 49 Gardens of perpetual residence, whose doors will be opened to them. 50 Therein they will recline; therein they will call for plenteous fruit and drink. 51 ۞ And with them will be maidens of equal age with modest gaze. 52 'This is what you are promised on the Day of Recompense, 53 Our provision for you will never be exhausted. 54 This (is for the righteous). And lo! for the transgressors there with be an evil journey's end, 55 Hell, where they will be roasted. An evil place to dwell! 56 This, [then, for them] so let them taste it: burning despair and ice-cold darkness 57 And other torments of similar kind, all together! 58 This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall burn in the Fire! 59 They will say nay! it is ye, for whom there is no welcome: it is ye who have brought it upon us. Evil shall be the resting-place. 60 They will say: "O Lord, give him who has brought this upon us two times more the torment of Hell;" 61 And they will say: 'Why do we not see the men that we counted as being among the wicked in here? 62 Did we take them as an object of mockery, or have (our) eyes failed to perceive them?" 63 Surely that is true the disputing of the inhabitants of the Fire 64
