The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
