The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
