And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)], and placed his brother Harun (Aaron) with him as a helper; 35 Then We said: Go you both to the people who rejected Our communications; so We destroyed them with utter destruction. 36 And Nuh's (Noah) people, when they denied the Messengers We drowned them, and We made them as a sign for mankind. And We have prepared a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc). 37 (As for) 'Ad, Thamud and the people of ar-Rass, and many generations in between them, 38 to each of them We gave examples, and each of them We utterly ruined. 39 Surely, these people have passed by that habitation on which was rained an evil rain: have they not seen its ruins? But they do not expect another life in the Hereafter. 40 Whenever they see you they only make a mockery of you -- "Is this the one God has sent as His Messenger? 41 He would have surely turned us away from our gods if we had not adhered to them." They will know soon who is farther away from the path when they see the punishment! 42 Have you considered him who takes his own lust for his god? Can you stand a surety for him? 43 Do you think that most of them can hear or understand? They are like cattle, no, they are further astray from the Path. 44
