And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
