The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
