The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And pollution shun. 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he beheld, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
