Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
