And recite to them the tiding of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
