The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 "And when ye exert your strong hand, do ye do it like men of absolute power? 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
