The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
