Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
