The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
