We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 till the appointed time. 38 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
