Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with [complete] devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He; so take Him for a Guardian. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent an Apostle to you as a witness against you, as We had sent an apostle to the Pharaoh. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
