And when the sent angels came to the house of Lut. 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
