This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 to your heart, so that you will warn (the people of the dangers of disobeying God). 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And indeed it is mentioned in the earlier Books. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 And he had recited it to them, and they had not believed (it would have been different). 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 they shall not believe in it until they see the painful punishment 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 So for Our punishment are they impatient? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 And [this divine writ is such a reminder:] no evil spirits have brought it down: 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So call not upon another god with Allah, lest you be of those who are punished. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 And rely upon (Allah) the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about bewildered in every valley? 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
