The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
