The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 thy robes purify 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
