The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
