The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)

۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
