The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
