The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 and a Book inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 by the House inhabited 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
