The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
