No, by the moon! 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
