The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
