(Muhammad), they will ask you about Dhu 'l-Qarnayn. Say, "I shall tell you something about him". 83 Indeed We established him upon the earth, and We gave him to everything a way. 84 He set out (westwards) on an expedition, 85 [And he marched westwards] till, when he came to the setting of the sun, it appeared to him that it was setting in a dark, turbid sea; and nearby he found a people [given to every kind of wrongdoing]. We said: "O thou Two-Horned One! Thou mayest either cause [them] to suffer or treat them with kindness!" 86 He said, "We shall certainly punish him who does wrong; then he shall be brought back to his Lord who will punish him with a grievous punishment, 87 “And regarding one who believed and did good deeds – so his reward is goodness; and we shall soon give him an easy command.” 88 He again pursued a purpose. 89 Until when he reached the land of the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people to whom We had given no shelter from It; 90 So (it was). And We knew all concerning him. 91 Then he followed (another) course. 92 Until when he reached (a place) between the two mountains, he found on that side of them a people who could hardly understand a word. 93 They said: "O thou Two-Horned One! Behold, Gog and Magog" are spoiling this land. May we, then, pay unto thee a tribute on the understanding that thou wilt erect a barrier between us and them?" 94 He said: "That (wealth, authority and power) in which my Lord had established me is better (than your tribute). So help me with strength (of men), I will erect between you and them a barrier. 95 Bring me sheets of iron" - until, when he had leveled [them] between the two mountain walls, he said, "Blow [with bellows]," until when he had made it [like] fire, he said, "Bring me, that I may pour over it molten copper." 96 So they [Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog and Magog)] were made powerless to scale it or dig through it. 97 He said: 'This is a mercy from my Lord. But when my Lord's promise is come, He will make it dust. The promise of my Lord is true' 98 ۞ And on that Day We shall let some of them surge like waves against others, and the Trumpet shall be blown. Then We shall gather them all together. 99 We will fully expose the view of hell on that Day to the disbelievers, 100 They whose eyes were under a cover from My reminder and they could not even hear. 101
