And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture and appointed with him his brother Aaron as an assistant. 35 And We said, "Go both of you to the people who have denied Our signs." Then We destroyed them with [complete] destruction. 36 And the people of Nooh – when they denied the Noble Messengers, We drowned them and made them a sign for mankind; and We have kept prepared a painful punishment for the unjust. 37 also to Aad and Thamood and the nation of ErRass and many generations in between; 38 To each one We set forth Parables and examples; and each one We broke to utter annihilation (for their sins). 39 And they have already come upon the town which was showered with a rain of evil. So have they not seen it? But they are not expecting resurrection. 40 And when they see you (O Muhammad SAW), they treat you only as a mockery (saying):"Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a Messenger? 41 He would have led us far away from our gods if we had not been staunch to them. They will know, when they behold the doom, who is more astray as to the road. 42 Hast thou seen him who has taken his caprice to be his god? Wilt thou be a guardian over them? 43 Do you think that most of them can hear or understand? They are like cattle, no, they are further astray from the Path. 44
