The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Star when it setteth, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 then came down close 8 And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; 9 And He revealed unto His slave that which He revealed. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 and the third one, Manat? -- 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25
