The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
