Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 Nay! (Man denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So) he desires to continue committing sins. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Man will be apprised, on that Day, of what he has done and what he has left undone: 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
