Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups put in place 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
