The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
