Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
