And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 Most surely these do say: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
