And Nuh did certainly call upon Us, and most excellent answerer of prayer are We. 75 We saved him and his family from the great affliction, 76 and We made his offspring the survivors. 77 We left mention of him among later generations. 78 "Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!" 79 Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 80 He is indeed one of Our high ranking, firmly believing bondmen. 81 Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood. 82 ۞ And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham 83 When he came unto his Lord with a whole heart; 84 When he said to his father and his people: "What is this you worship? 85 "Is it a falsehood aliha (gods) other than Allah that you seek? 86 What do you think about the Lord of the Universe?" 87 He then shot a glance at the stars. 88 and said: “I am sick.” 89 So they turned away from him, and departed. 90 Thereupon he approached their gods stealthily and said, "What! You do not eat [of the offerings placed before you]? 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak?" 92 Then he slipped unto them striking them with the right hand. 93 Thereupon the people came running to him. 94 He said: worship ye that which ye carve. 95 While Allah created you and that which you do?" 96 They said, "Build a pyre for him and throw him into the blaze!" 97 So they contrived a plot against him, but We made them abject. 98 And [Abraham] said: "Verily, I shall [leave this land and] go wherever my Sustainer will guide me!" 99 "O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!" 100 Wherefore We gave him the glad tidings of a boy gentle. 101 And when (his son) was old enough to walk with him, (Abraham) said: O my dear son, I have seen in a dream that I must sacrifice thee. So look, what thinkest thou? He said: O my father! Do that which thou art commanded. Allah willing, thou shalt find me of the steadfast. 102 Then (remember) when they both submitted to Allah’s command, and Ibrahim lay his son facing downwards. (The knife did not hurt Ismail) 103 We called to him, saying: 'O Abraham, 104 you have fulfilled the dream." It is thus indeed that We reward those who do good, 105 Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 Peace be unto Ibrahim: 109 Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 110 for he was truly one of our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the good news of Isaac, a Prophet and among the righteous ones. 112 And We blessed him and Is-haq; and of their offspring are some well-doers and some who wrong themselves manifestly. 113
