a multitude of the ancients, 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 They had lived in luxury before this 45 and persisted in heinous sins. 46 and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Say: 'The ancients, and the later folk 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then you, you misguided ones, who deny the truth, 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And will fill your bellies therewith; 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Have you seen the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74
