The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 By the angels hastening, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
