The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 The closing night, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
