Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
