In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
