The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 No one can avert it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
