The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul of the disbeliever. 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
