The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
