The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And assembled and proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
